Outreach

Endowment Fund Investment

Every year, 5% is taken out of this fund, half is given to the operating account and the other half is used for mission and outreach.

We have donated to the below previously

  • Every year we donate to Pack Pals. This is a program at the New Oxford school. Every Friday they fill backpacks with food and send home with needy children.
  • We donate health and hygiene items to the Grab and Go Health Care Closet at the New Oxford High School. These items are given to the students in need of these items such as deodorant, soap and shampoo.
  • We donate either money or items to Roots for Boots. Roots for Boots supports veterans. They have a monthly food drive and they also do projects for veterans, such as building a ramp so they can get in their homes.
  • Hook and Ladder Fire Company – the congregation has donated water and Gatorade for our first responders.
  • New Hope is the local food pantry. We have done several donation drives with the congregation for items that were needed such as toilet paper and laundry detergent. We also have made monetary donations especially during COVID. We have participated with their back to school night where take school supplies to hand out to the families that go to New Hope. At Christmas time, we buy items off the wishlist for their clients and families.
  • We have donated to the Gettysburg Mission. They support men trying to get back on their feet. Also have donated to Agape House. They support women and children in need.
  • We have donated to the YMCA …program (domestic violence)
  • We have donated to The Love a Veteran. This helps to ship packages to the military.
  • One time donation was sent for Ukraine refugees.
  • About every quarter, we like to ask the congregation to join in or donating items to organizations. We only ask when another drive is not happening, such as the roof fund.
  • Every year the congregation get involved with the Samaritan Purse’s Shoeboxes. The mission committee will pay for the shipping on the boxes.

There is an endowment committee of five that meets and decides on outreach. The congregation is asked for suggestion of outreach and mission opportunities.
